WebMar 25, 2024 · I have a 406 that has never been apart. Block is C3AE-V, casting date 2M3. Heads are C3AE-C with spring cups, date 2M28. Has C3AE-C rods and C3AE-E crank. Looks like by the head dates the engine was assembled in January 63. I thought they were building 427’s by then. Share this topic with: WebOct 5, 2005 · If you look on the front of the block on the driver side just above the oil pan you can see a bolt that plugs the forward end of the side oil passage right beside the timing chain cover. You can also see the cross bolts that hold the main caps.
